Ensure a higher level of product safety through better harmonization t and implementation of EU technical legislation

Objectives of the Project

Adoption of sustainability, effectiveness and innovation in the machinery sector
to build a strong and stable economy in Turkey's machinery industry and have a high international competitiveness
Being guided by the directives guiding the sector in Europe while establishing a long-term cooperation with EU countries that have made progress in the machinery sector
Turkey to have its own manufacturing and product technology compatible to EU, to act simultaneously in the industrialization process with EU countries

Turkey lies between South-Eastern Europe and South-Western Asia. A portion of Turkey, west of the Bosporus, is geographically part of Europe and it has borders with Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Greece and Bulgaria.

Its total area is slightly larger than 780.000 square kilometres. Its population is around 81 million of which 40 % is made up those in 0-25 years age group. Turkey's economy is driven by its industry and, increasingly, service sectors with 20,9 and 61,6 percentage points respectively.

TURKEY MACHINERY INDUSTRY

According to TUİK’s data, the machinery sector realized 109 billion TL in turnover and 27 billion TL value added with 13.371 enterprises and 243.550 employment in 2018, while exports reached USD 17.15 billion with an increase of 15 percent and reached a historical value of 64%. However, the most foreign trade deficit given after energy in our country is the machinery sector, and almost all of the developed industrial countries have foreign trade surplus, which is why it is of great strategic importance for our country.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

Ensure a higher level of product safety through better harmonization t and implementation of EU technical legislation.

Objectives of the Project

Adoption of sustainability, effectiveness and innovation in the machinery sector
To build a strong and stable economy in Turkey's machinery industry and have a high international competitiveness
Being guided by the directives guiding the sector in Europe while establishing a long-term cooperation with EU countries that have made progress in the machinery sector
Turkey to have its own manufacturing and product technology compatible to EU, to act simultaneously in the industrialization process with EU countries

Machinery regulations and short films reach at least 3,000 people (Ministry, NGOs and manufacturers)
28% decrease in the number of audit activities with NGOs approved by the end of 2020
10% reduction in non-compliance of market surveillance controls in the machinery sector by the end of 2020
Training on the harmonization and implementation of the relevant EU technical legislation in the machinery sector with a minimum of 650 participation (Ministry, NGOs and manufacturers)

Extensive experience and in-depth understanding of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for accreditation standards for conformity assessment, testing/calibration laboratories, EU directives and regulations on machinery
Experience providing technical assistance in the elaboration of requirement specifications,
Experience in managing technical assistance projects for the Public institutes
Expertise in designing large scale public awareness campaigns, trainings, study visits, meetings, workshops and other organisations
Expertise in translation, publication and distribution of guide documents in EU funded projects,
